Piran / Slovenia
Piran, a quaint little town on the coast was our last stop on our fourth day in Slovenia. We came here after visiting the Škocjan caves. Slovenia is a country of surprises, it has a coastline of around 43km wedged between Croatia and Italy - and the town of Piran is well worth the visit. It rained the whole time we wondered the quiet alleyways and streets. Its hard to think we were in Slovenia; where hours before we were in a massive cave, and the day before we were driving in the mountains covered in snow! We grabbed some Calamari and chips from a cute little restaurant called Pri Mari. The calamari was sooo good! We walked around the tip of the peninsula then headed back to the car and made our way back to Ljubljana. The next morning we woke early, drove 4 hours north to Vienna and jumped on the plane to take us to Geneva, where would then transfer into Chamonix. The start of a 3-month funemployment adventure.
I love creating images that speak to me.
I grew up in a small town that nobody really knows about, Levin. Spent a good ten years in Hamilton making some of the best friends anyone could have. And now I’m living, working and playing in the city of Auckland, New Zealand. Also a small country that people have trouble locating – I’m looking at you America!
Life is about stories, and that’s what I love to capture and document. My shooting style is unobtrusive. You may be a natural in front of the camera, or have no idea what to do but before we even start I’ll make sure you’re comfortable and relaxed.
Things I love: Travelling to wherever I can, my partner Monita, homemade burgers, wood fired pizzas, the smell of rain on a hot summers day, mountains, the snow, sunsets and sunrises, star gazing, natural light, the aesthetic of wood, crashing waves and day dreaming.
