Morocco / Day 7

Essaouira and its link to the hippie days are still very strong. With many musicians, artists and Rastafarians. The chilled out vibe is noticeable in the Medina as you don’t get hassled to buy things from the shop keepers, as much. We came across a small gallery showing the work of Daniel Gastaud. A French artist who creates these stunning works using feathers. They were very expensive, but one day I’d love to have a piece from Essaouira hanging in our house.

We had found a spot for lunch on Foursquare but unfortunately it wasn’t open for lunch as they had a big night planned. But one of the guys took us another place 5 minutes away. We were a bit skeptical but went along with it. It wasn’t somewhere we’d usually choose but it was really good, more super fresh fish, and cheap too! After lunch we walked aimlessly and appreciated the architecture and cool painted doors! It was then back to the bus to make the trip back to Marrakesh.

After checking in again, having a nap and getting ready we headed into the Medina of Marrakech to Jemaa el-Fnaa. One of the most visited spots in Marrakesh. After looking around the stalls a few of us went to Nomad (couldn't recommend this place more!) for dinner before joining the others for a drink in a super cool decorated bar.

It was then back to the hotel and the reality that this trip was coming to an end very quick. Our first goodbye was to Abdoul and Amu who made the tour so interesting and hassle free. We had another drink in the cabana before saying some last goodbyes and called it a night.
