Winter 2013 Recap
So with the New Zealand snow season fast approaching I thought I'd do a quick recap n my season from last year. As much as I love a cold beer in the summer sun, I'd much rather prefer heading up the mountain for a run. The palette of autumn and crisp winter air win me over every year.. as long as there's a fire burning somewhere!
Pete, Leah and I started our snow season on the first day of winter. Mt. Ruapehu received enough snow for us to drive down and go for a hike. Previewing before the masses.
Just as the North Island season was getting started I made a trip down to Queenstown for a week to cash in on all the snow they were getting. Queesntown and the Otago region are one of my favourite places in the world. Here's why.
The season in the North Island was not as good as originally hyped. Managed to get in some good days. Whatever the weather in the Central Plateau, the photo opportunities are plentiful.
I love creating images that speak to me.
I grew up in a small town that nobody really knows about, Levin. Spent a good ten years in Hamilton making some of the best friends anyone could have. And now I’m living, working and playing in the city of Auckland, New Zealand. Also a small country that people have trouble locating – I’m looking at you America!
Life is about stories, and that’s what I love to capture and document. My shooting style is unobtrusive. You may be a natural in front of the camera, or have no idea what to do but before we even start I’ll make sure you’re comfortable and relaxed.
Things I love: Travelling to wherever I can, my partner Monita, homemade burgers, wood fired pizzas, the smell of rain on a hot summers day, mountains, the snow, sunsets and sunrises, star gazing, natural light, the aesthetic of wood, crashing waves and day dreaming.
