Sunshine Coast

Sunshine Coast

It’s been a looooong time since I’ve written a post on this website. ‘Traveling’ has been a bitter sweet memory. Since our return from Europe we’ve survived a global pandemic and have been busy raising our two amazing little humans.

I was lucky enough to be invited up to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland by one of my oldest friends for his wedding. It was a short trip, just three nights. I left home at 4am, left the country at 6:30am, arrived into Brisbane at 7:30am and then arrived in Caloundra around 10am. It was then another hour straight up to Noosa to scope the venue. Shortly after we arrived back in Caloundra most of the guests met up at Kings Surf Club for dinner and drinks. Oh yeah, and the weather was gloomy and windy all day.\

Friday, still no sun. In fact it rained for the majority of the day! Just my luck. I drive up to Maroochydore to a look at buy a new camera. As fate usually has it, some more old friends of mine live 5 minutes from where I was staying. So I caught up with Brad and we went Rock Climbing, checked out a brewery then heading back to his house to hang with the kids.

Most of these photos are from Saturday once the sun decided to show face, and before we all caught the shuttle bus up to Noosa for the wedding. I loved the Sunshine Coast, I can definitely see the appeal - though no day light savings is strange! But one day we’ll be back.

I love creating images that speak to me.

I grew up in a small town that nobody really knows about, Levin. Spent a good ten years in Hamilton making some of the best friends anyone could have. And now I’m living, working and playing in the city of Auckland, New Zealand. Also a small country that people have trouble locating – I’m looking at you America!

Life is about stories, and that’s what I love to capture and document. My shooting style is unobtrusive. You may be a natural in front of the camera, or have no idea what to do but before we even start I’ll make sure you’re comfortable and relaxed.

Things I love: Travelling to wherever I can, my partner Monita, homemade burgers, wood fired pizzas, the smell of rain on a hot summers day, mountains, the snow, sunsets and sunrises, star gazing, natural light, the aesthetic of wood, crashing waves and day dreaming.
