Sydney / May '14
The last couple of months have meant catching up on all work related activities. Now that things are under control it's time to share a lot of images.
Monita and I planned a five week trip to North America, criss-crossing across Canada and the States and ticking off six major cities in the process.
It all began with a few nights in Sydney to get Monita packed and free as a bird.
Monita spent the last couple of years living in what I believe is one of the nicest suburbs on earth, Kirribilli. The afternoon I landed I explored the streets one last time, not knowing when we would be back next.
The following day I caught the train over the Harbour Bridge to catch up with my good friend Sara who is chasing down her dreams living and working in Sydney.
After catching up with Sara I walked around the CBD than made my way back over the bridge (by train) and explored more of Kirribilli until Monita finished her last ever day at work.
After a bit of exploration it was time to head home to get some sleep for the first leg of North America. To get accustomed to the many miles of walking ahead of us, we opted to walk over the bridge back to Kirribilli.
I love creating images that speak to me.
I grew up in a small town that nobody really knows about, Levin. Spent a good ten years in Hamilton making some of the best friends anyone could have. And now I’m living, working and playing in the city of Auckland, New Zealand. Also a small country that people have trouble locating – I’m looking at you America!
Life is about stories, and that’s what I love to capture and document. My shooting style is unobtrusive. You may be a natural in front of the camera, or have no idea what to do but before we even start I’ll make sure you’re comfortable and relaxed.
Things I love: Travelling to wherever I can, my partner Monita, homemade burgers, wood fired pizzas, the smell of rain on a hot summers day, mountains, the snow, sunsets and sunrises, star gazing, natural light, the aesthetic of wood, crashing waves and day dreaming.
