Day 4
We started the day a bit slower after three busy eventful days. Waking up to fresh snow on the ground and still falling was dream like. This day was a long push up the East Fjords and west to Myvatn, a good 5-6 hours of driving. Snow and rain dominated the day but the epic coast meant we stopped of for photos along the way. Once we started to cross west we were quite high in altitude and drove through some intense snow conditions. All we could see was the road! We made it out alive as we neared Mývatn. We checked into our cabin and went to the supermarket but we were 5 minutes late. So, we had dinner with our emergency food. Tuna, rice and crackers!
Then we headed to Krafla Power Station and Viti crater. Unfortunately, the crater was frozen over, but we did get an awesome sunset. The road up to the crater was very steep, the next day we saw cars that had gone up in bad conditions and couldn't drive down! Then we headed to the Myvatn Nature Baths, a smaller but quieter version of the Blue Lagoon. We soaked in the water and then headed home for some much needed sleep.
