Morocco / Day 4
A few of us woke with a slight headache but it was quite easily a night we would remember for a long time. After managing to get some food down we were back in the 4WD’s. Back on the main road we stopped for water again before turning off and heading through the oasis. Half way to the camp we stopped off in a small town that is famous for its quality of pottery. The owner gave us a small tour and then we had some time to look around the shop. We crossed through the mountains and headed for our next camp.
Also, our drivers were hilarious, playing jokes on each other and taking over the road!
After lunch and some time to chill it was time for our camel ride. It was so hot, but that’s what you get in the Sahara right? But we were lucky with a bit of cloud cover and a breeze. We stopped half way on our two hour ride for a drink break for both us and the camels. It wasn’t the most comfortable ride, but it definitely bearable!
Luckily this camp had a shower, it was nice to get the sand off! Then we spent the evening chilling, eating, cahtting and some of the boys battling out over games of 500.
At this point we had reached the pinnacle of our trip (literally and figuratively). With many hours travelling, multiple tagines and freshly squeezed OJ's we were starting to know each other quiet well. As a group of mostly Aussie and Kiwi expats, we started comparing notes about life in London and of course travel. By the end of our time in the desert we were certainly well acquainted. - Laura Morrison
